SENTINEL FIRE & SECURITY
THE CLIENT:
Sentinel Fire and Security Solutions Ltd provides a nationwide reactive engineering service, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year across England. The business specialises in maintaining critical life safety systems, including fire detection and Technology Enabled Care (TEC) systems, supporting housing providers and organisations responsible for protecting elderly and vulnerable residents. With a fleet of engineering vehicles travelling hundreds of thousands of miles each year, reliability is essential to maintaining the high standards of service its customers expect.
THE CHALLENGE:
One of Sentinel’s Škoda Octavia engineering vehicles developed a turbocharger fault, requiring an urgent repair. As the vehicle was used daily by a field engineer responding to customer sites, any prolonged downtime would have resulted in unnecessary operational costs and reduced engineering capacity.
Keeping fleet vehicles on the road is vital for Sentinel’s business. A vehicle out of service can impact engineer productivity, place additional pressure on the wider engineering team and increase the risk of failing to meet demanding customer Service Level Agreements. Sentinel therefore required a specialist turbo repair with a fast turnaround to return the vehicle to service as quickly as possible.
WHAT WE DID:
The turbocharger was carefully stripped and thoroughly inspected to identify the cause of the fault and assess the extent of the damage. Worn and damaged internal components were replaced before the turbocharger was precision rebuilt using high-quality replacement parts. Every component was carefully checked throughout the rebuild process to ensure the turbocharger met the required performance standards before being reassembled and tested.
By repairing the original turbocharger rather than replacing the complete unit, Total Turbo delivered a cost-effective solution while significantly reducing vehicle downtime and returning the engineering vehicle to service quickly.
THE RESULTS:
Following completion of the repair, Sentinel’s engineering vehicle was returned to service with the turbocharger performing like new. The rapid turnaround minimised fleet downtime, allowing the engineer to continue supporting customers across England without unnecessary disruption.
With the vehicle back on the road quickly, Sentinel was able to maintain the high levels of service expected by its customers while protecting engineering productivity and avoiding the additional costs associated with prolonged vehicle downtime. The repair was completed to the highest standard and supplied with a 12-month unlimited mileage warranty, providing peace of mind.
“Total Turbo’s fast turnaround got our engineering vehicle back on the road quickly, helping us maintain operational performance and support customers with critical life safety systems.”
